Light and Sound Energy - Grade 4 - GTK Press
In the topic the student examine two forms of energy they encounter on a daily basis. The students become familiar with the properties of light energy by investigating and observing how light interacts with various objects in the environment. From their observation, the students learn that light travel in the straight line and that it can be reflected and refracted. Based on this knowledge, the students design and build a number of optical instruments.
Similarly, through investigations students will learn how sound is caused, how it travels, and how it can be sensed and measured. As well, by exploring the factors that affect the sounds that are produced, the students discover ways to control sound and sound energy.
The topic culminates with a celebration about how our increasing knowledge of light energy and sound energy has improved the quality of our lives.
