Matter - Grade 5 - GTK Press

In this Unit the students begin to explore the underlying concept of matter. They learn about the three states of matter (solid, liquid, gas) and the properties of each. They also explore changes of states, and investigate the difference between and chemical changes (which are usually reversible) and chemical changes (which are not usually reversible).

Students already know about many of these changes from their previous Investigations, but now they begin to apply their knowledge in a systematic way, using inquiry and design processes to solve problems and to choose appropriate materials for the devices they design and make.
